Watchword for the Month
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him” – Romans 8:28 (a)
As Christians we build our lives according to God’s Word and because of that we might feel like we are entitled to a good life. A smooth-sailing life. But we do not get to decide what is good.
The Apostle Paul found himself wrongfully imprisoned (Phil 1:12-14) but he saw that God was using his situation for good. Paul was able to share the message to his fellow prisoners and the guards and in this way encouraged them to reveal themselves as believers.
There are times in our lives and in our relationships with others when something happens and we don’t see how we can ever rise above it, or get through it, or even get
over it. At these times we must cling to God and take Him at His Word.
God says that all things work out for good to those who love Him and submit to His purpose in their lives. But the verses before that speak about prayer (“In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for us, God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Rom. 8:26…)
It seems, then, that things work out for good when we are praying. And that makes sense, doesn’t it? God works powerfully in our lives when we pray.
Whenever you are facing something insurmountable in your life – such as a financial disaster, the loss of a loved one or family member, problems with a child, serious
illness, work-related problems or any of the many dreadful things that can happen – invite God to do something in your situation that your mind can’t even conceive of or never thought possible.
My dear Brother/ Sister – Keep praying no matter how hopeless it seems, don’t stop thanking God that He works out everything in your lives for good when you love and
trust Him for your future.
If you don’t have any kind of serious problem right now, praise God for that, he is doing GOOD things in your life. Thank Him that He is the God of the impossible.
In the meantime, continue staying close to Him in prayer, and pray for your family members to do the same.
PRAYER:
Lord, l thank you that because l love and serve you and strive to live according to your will my family and those I hold dear can be assured that all things WILL work out for good. We might go through hard times, but we know that you always have our best interests at heart even when a situation may be tragedy to us, you can still bring good out of it. Even though we cannot imagine what good can possibly come from it, we can trust your miracle-working power to transform this situation. Teach us to pray first, instead of being overtaken by discouragement or fear. Enable us to learn from every problem so that we can be a help to others in the same situation.
You have called us to live in your vineyard and do your work here on earth and though it might be difficult at times, Your Word has promised that you will equip us to do what is necessary for the growth of your Kingdom.
We trust in you through the storm because we know you will bring a bright tomorrow.
Amen.
